Description

Here we have the Classic German WWI Gewehr 98 Mauser Service Rifle.  This rifle was made by DWM in 1916 still fairly early in the war, certainly one of the highest quality makers of these rifles.  It is all matching except of for the rear stock screw.  The bore is excellent and the walnut stock is attractive, still with very visible cartouches.  You would be hard pressed to find a better example than this, they just are not around and in matching condition such as this.  This comes with a recently made sling, although the metal parts of it are period.  It may have come off of the wall of a bar or out of an old VFW hall, it has the look of being an old display piece that was hung up for 50 years as a treasured war trophy.

The Gew98 is one of the most well known military Rifles of the 20th century, it is the Mauser rifle that is so famous to anyone who has ever seen “All Quite on the Western Front”  These rifles have always been nearly impossible to find with a matching bolt.   This is a stand up example of a German WWI Mauser.
