This is probably the hardest to find pistol of the WWII era, in very choice condition for it’s rarity we have an extremely elusive Soviet TK Pistol, often referred to as the Tula Korovin, or Korovin Pistol. Production of these pistols began in 1926 and they are notorious for being carried by the Cheka and later the NKVD, and famous for being carried by the Marshalls and Generals of the Red Army, and the senior leadership cadre of the Soviet State right up to Joseph Stalin who always had one in his pocket. It is sort of a cross between a Party Leader PPK and a US General Officers Pistol.
Today very few of these pistols still exist, in Russia most of them were used to death or destroyed in the war or scrapped later in the 1960’s; so they are scarce even there. In North American collections I doubt that even 50 exist. They usually only show up for sale every few years. And this is the nicest example we have ever seen.
This example that we were very fortunate to find just came out of the woodwork. It is a late production example. I would imagine that it was taken off some Commissar or some high ranking Red Army Officer by the Germans and then taken off of them by a GI and brought back here as a war trophy. Absolutely the hardest Soviet WWII weapon to find, you will only see one in the most advanced of collections.
