In 97% very sharp condition, all matching including the magazine, we have a textbook example of an early Mauser/DWM 1929 “Sneak” Luger that was Wiemar/Naza era Police issue to the City of Koblenz in Southwest Germany. This Luger has the Sear the sear safety and Police style matching numbered magazine. It is marked L. Kz. 39. which translates to Landespolizei Koblenz gun #39. The pistol is all matching and the bore is excellent as well. This is the Wiemar/early Nazi classic sneak in the “u” letter block with the WaA66 early proofs. As you know, they were elusively marked (sneaked) in order to not draw attention to small arms production violations of the stipulations set forth in the Treaty of Versailles.
Pistols like this were carried by various Nazi Police organizations and after the war began in 1939 also by the Waffen SS, the SS field Police and Polizei Division members as Police cadres went into front line service. This would also include the Einsatz Commando units as well. All of these groups contributed to the atrocities and genocidal massacres committed in Eastern Europe and Russia. This Luger would be very typical of the Police issued weapons that these units may have used during the war.
