In mint crisp condition, with a ton of accessorizes and very well documented, we have the Vietnam Era US Airforce General Officers Smith & Wesson M39 9mm Pistol that was the issued sidearm of Major General Edward Dillon. General Dillon had a highly distinguished and long Career in the Airforce and was in charge of a major part of the airlift command during the Vietnam era. He had many high profile assignments and interacted with many of the past centuries most famous people, from Prince Charles to Barry Goldwater with photos included. The Airforce Property tag and shipping tag are with this setup and the Pistol by serial number is documented in Brunner’s General Officers book so it is a very well known and vetted piece.
The Airforce issued the S&W Model 39 to it’s Generals beginning in 1967 and through to about 1980. This was a much more contemporary pistol that was in keeping with the forward thinking men of the wild blue yonder. Certainly one of the rarer models of pistols used by our military and a wonderful piece of history from the Cold War Era.
