Description

IN 96-97% VERY SHARP CONDITION, WE HAVE A  DECEMBER, 1943  PRODUCTION REMINGTON RAND MADE 1911A1 US ARMY SERVICE PISTOL.  THIS IS A LEND LEASE PISTOL THAT WAS SHIPPED TO GREAT BRITAIN.  IT IS 100% CORRECT EXACTLY AS IT LEFT THE FACTORY.  THE GUN IS COMPLETELY CORRECT WITH AN EXCELLENT BORE.

DURING WWII, THE BRITISH RECEIVED MANY US MADE SMALL ARMS UNDER THE TERMS OF THE LEND LEASE AGREEMENT.  LEE ENFIELD RIFLES WERE SHIPPED IN GREAT QUANTITY, BUT THEY ALSO RECEIVED US STANDARD ISSUE WEAPONS SUCH AS GARANDS AND ’03 SPRINGFIELD RIFLES WHICH LARGELY WENT TO RESERVE UNITS.  THE 1911A1 PISTOLS THAT WERE RECEIVED WERE WIDELY ISSUED AND SAW MUCH COMBAT, ESPECIALLY WITH THE BRITISH AIRBORNE UNITS AND COMMANDOS FOR EXAMPLE THAT NEEDED TO RELY ON A PISTOL AS A PRIMARY WEAPON.  IN 1952 A LARGE NUMBER OF THESE ARMS WERE REMOVED FROM THE ACTIVE LIST IN THE BRITISH ARMY AND WERE SOLD OFF AS SURPLUS.  THIS EXAMPLE DATES FROM THAT TIME.

REMINGTON RAND WAS THE MOST EFFICIENT PRODUCER OF THESE PISTOLS DURING WW2. NOT ONLY DID THEY MANUFACTURE THE LARGEST NUMBER OF PISTOLS THEY ALSO PRODUCED THE HIGHEST QUALITY PISTOLS AS WELL.  THIS IS A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THE MOST LEGENDARY GUNS OF WWII.  IF YOU WANT A REALLY NICE LOOKING 75 YEAR OLD ANGLO/AMERICAN WWII SERVICE PISTOL HERE IT IS; IT REALLY POPS.
