WED MAR 18, FRENCH Mle 1935A PISTOL, POST WAR PRODUCTION, NICE!

In 95% condition, we have a late 1946-47 production French Modele 1935A Pistol   The bore is excellent and the finish is original as well.  These pistols are seeing new life due to the fact that Stienel makes ammo for them, it’s not expensive and they never run out.

This is the first of the successful Petter designed pistols and it is chambered in the 7.65 Long French cartridge which is the identical cartridge originally intended for the US WWI pederson device.  I think the primary reason for the adoption of this round was that it was very close to the original 8mm Lebel service revolver round.  The French were satisfied with the effectiveness but needed that power in a more modern semi auto version.  This pistol likely saw police or military service in Vietnam during the end of the French Colonial era.
