In 98% exceptional condition, we have a very rare and extremely important Factory cased FN Model 1899 Pistol.  This is still in the FN Factory original 1899 early style black canvas covered case.   This pistol is listed by serial number (205)  in Vanderlinden’s book so it has been known by collectors for some time.   Only 13,000 of these 1899 type pistols were produced before the upgraded and renowned FN Model 1900 was introduced to replace it.  We have only seen a few of these pistols over the years and none of them had any finish left.  To own one of these pistols in this exceptional condition is a huge achievement for the advanced pistol collector, especially those that collect FN pistols. Being factory cased, this may well be the Ultimate example.   The importance of this pistol’s entrance into the market cannot be underestimated, it was a huge success that spawned a lineage of pistols that are still in use today.  This is the Browning design that started it all.  Certainly one of the most important FN Pistols recently offered.
