Description

In 92% condition, we have an exceedingly rare (less than 10 known examplesWalther PPK Pistol that was used by Factory Security personnel from the Thiel Factory at Muhlhausen Thuringia and is so marked with the Factory Thiel Anker Uhren Logo.  During WW2, this factory produced complicated clockwork timed artillery fuses for 8.8 cm anti aircraft shells.   This is an early prewar standard commercial ppk that has the factory logo engraved on the front grip strap.  Only a hand full of pistols are known from this period to have factory or plant markings so this is quite rare.  The Thiel marked pistols are probably the best known and most researched of these pistols and they are well known and avidly sought after by advanced collectors.  The factory code was dlr and the official name was Geratebau GmbH, Ruhla/Thuringen known as Werk Muhlhausen.  Not surprisingly, this factory was largely staffed by slave labor from one of the Buchenwald sub camps.  These pistols in mint condition will easily command upwards of $4500 so this one while not mint is a true bargain!
