SOLD, US WW2 O.S.S. LIBERATOR PISTOL, RARE TYPE 3, 4 HOLE VARIANT, NICE!

In excellent condition, we have a great example of an O.S.S. Liberator Clandestine Assassination Pistol.  This is a rare type 3, 4 hole variant (the 3 hole variant is what you always see).   These smoothbore single shot pistols were designed to be used behind enemy lines by members of the resistance to kill enemy soldiers and steal there weapons.  They were used on a limited scale in Europe but did see substantial use in the Philippines and the CBI theater.  Almost all of these pistols were scrapped after the war and they are very scarce and seldom seen.   They are among the most interesting firearms of ww2 and have a larger than life reputation in the gun lore of WWII.
