Due to raw material shortages in WWII, the Germans experimented with and issued some 9mm Luger ammunition with bullets that were made of Sintered iron. Sintered iron is made of powdered iron that is super heated and pressed into dies. Very similar to today’s frangible bullets, however they were intended to remain intact. They were successful but hard on barrel life.
