Description

In antique fine condition we have a US Army issued Colt Model 1860 Revolver that was shipped to the New York Arsenal at Governor’s Island on April 1, 1863.  This pistol is completely original, it is all matching including the wedge and it still has the very visible Government acceptance cartouches on both grips.  The bore shows some use but is certainly very nice.  The gun is solid and locks up tighter than Dick’s hatband.  I would not hesitate to shoot it if needs be.

This pistol has quite an interesting history, it was found back in the 1950’s in the attic of a farmhouse south of Winchester VA in the area of Cedar Creek site of the famous battle in 1864.  It has been in several local collections since that time and is a fine example of a Federal Cavalry issue Colt that very likely ended up in Confederate hands at some time and was hidden locally after the war.  This is just the kind of local civil war find that we get from time to time.  WITH COLT LETTER TOO!
