In 95% all matching original condition, we have a British Army Issue 1914 production Webley Mark V .455 Service Revolver. This revolver is believed to be Unit marked to The King’s African Rifles, which fought against the German Askaris in East Africa. At the time of the outbreak of WWI in August of 1914, the Mark V was the most up to date model serving with the British and Commonwealth Forces. It would be upgraded in 1916 with the Mark VI model which we are all familiar with. At close range, especially in a trench environment this revolver is a man killer far better than any German 9m/m weapon and it is the equal of the US 1911 in terms of stopping power. These large very rugged revolvers served right on through WW2 in the hands of those lucky enough to get there father’s side arm from the previous war. This is a great piece of WWI history.
