SOLD 1939 US NAVY COLT 1911A1 PISTOL…SHIPPED TO NORFOLK ON DEC 18, 1939…..MATCHING

This is a very high end partially restored pistol, done around 20 years ago probably by Bill Adair or Steve Moeller.  In 98% condition we have a US Navy issued 1939 production Colt 1911a1 Pistol.  The pistol is all matching and totally correct as to parts.   The bore is mint and the magazine is correct.  This pistol is one of only 3,636 pistols taken into government service that year and they are along with the other blued US Military issued 1911a1 pistols produced from 1937-1941, the most sought after martial pistols of the 20th century.  If this pistol was not a partial restoration the offer price would be around $25,000, in fact most restorations of this quality will bring upwards $12,000 so this is an exceptional value.  I must say that the polish and the look of this gun is spot on and few would question it.  While we rarely ever deal in restored firearms the exceptional rarity and desirability of this piece put it in a class above others. They only ever made 3600 of these pistols, probably most of them are at the bottom of the Pacific and there are few in existence in any condition.
