SOLD 1942 US WW2 ISSUE COLT OFFICIAL POLICE REVOLVER…..US CUSTOMS SAN FRANCISCO…….MINT WITH COLT LETTER

In 98% very crisp condition, we have a very rare and extremely interesting 1942 US WW2 Colt Official Police 4 inch 38 Spec. Revolver that was Sent to Joseph Lorch on February 24, 1942 for the Collector of Customs for the Port of San Francisco California.  The revolver is marked “U.S. CUSTOMS” on the back strap and per the colt letter the number “2559” is engraved upon the butt.  This revolver is in very crisp condition and appears to have seen little use.  During WW2 the US Customs Service played a vital role in controlling alien entry into the United States and helping to maintain security at the Nations borders.  That this example was shipped to San Francisco greatly adds to its romantic allure.  This is one of the most interesting WW2 government guns we have been able to obtain and it would be a great addition to any serious Colt collection.
