In 96% very sharp condition we have an extremely rare and extremely desirable 3rd variation Walther zero series with a matching numbered mag and the seldom seen matching numbered ribbed military grips. The bore is mint and the de-cocker works correctly, which is a weakness in these early production P.38’s with the horseshoe sear. Of course the pistol is all matching including the mag. This pistol features the ribbed style grips which are seen on some of the later 3rd variation pistols. They are of course correctly waffenamted and numbered to the pistol and are certainly factory original. This is a huge plus on this pistol, this feature is so rare that probably only a few hundred left the factory in this configuration.
The Zero series were the initial German Army trial pistols of the P.38 design, they were built to the highest Walther commercial production standards with the legendary translucent like deep blue finish. The function and the fit are flawless; racking back the slide it feels like it was made of glass the motion is so smooth. The design was an immediate success and a vast improvement over the P.08 Luger from both the manufacturing standpoint and certainly the actual reliability in use. The desirability of this pistol cannot be understated it is on the must have list of any serious P.38 collector.
