Sometime in 1921-22, the Famous Firm of Abercrombie & Fitch Company of New York, purchased 100 Luger Pistols from DWM in the “i” block with the grip safety feature. Due to the restrictions in placed on new production Lugers in Germany at the time the Barrels were made in Switzerland, where the pistols were also assembled in order to work around the Treaty of Versailles. Most of these pistols were made with the 4 3/4 inch barrel in either 7.65 or 9mm caliber. However, an extremely limited number of these pistols were assembled in Navy Configuration making this is most desirable of the A&F Lugers. You will note that this example is in 9mm Luger caliber and is in full navy trim, even having the large flange toggle pin which is rarely ever seen on these Commericial Navy Lugers of the post WW1 era. This is an all matching textbook example in pristine condition. A&F was a very high end outfit at the time and catered to the upper echelons of society. This gun was bought by a one percenter and like everything the 1% do, they took care of it. This is a premier Luger from the golden age of Luger Collecting that only comes to the light of day once in a generation.
