In Antique fine condition we have a very scarce and seldom seen Smith & Wesson Model 1899 US Army Service Revolver in .38 Special. This is an all matching example with an excellent bore and is fully rigged out with a rare Eagle Snap ammunition belt that is Marked to the NY National Guard, possibly the HQ of a Field Artillery Unit. In 1901 the Army & the Navy each purchased 1,000 of these revolvers. Some of them were still in Service as late as WWII.
This is the original initial production of the revolver that would soon be known as the Military and Police Model, certainly the most widely used and made revolver of the 20th century. An updated version of this revolver that was made for the military would be called the Victory Model and was extensively use during WW2. This is a very significant revolver for the Smith and the US martial pistol collector, it’s very elusive and seldom seen and rarely ever this nice. This is a real find!
