Description

In 98% excellent crisp condition, we have premier example of the very stodgy and rugged Austro-Hungarian WWI Rast & Gasser Service Revolver.  This is a very early production example, it is Austrian Military 1903 accepted, which was the third year of very limited production.  These 8 shot  8mm caliber revolvers were in service with the Austro-Hungarian Empire during WWI and they stuck around through the end of WW2 being commonly used by all the combatants in central and eastern Europe.

These revolvers are somewhat ungainly looking to our eyes but they were extremely well made, very rugged and highly regarded as a combat arm.  They stayed in service with many countries after the war most notably Italy which used them extensively in WWII.  Most specimens that you encounter are well worn and not particularly nice, however this is a top example, it is all matching very sharp and the bore is mint. Very early production examples such as this specimen are extremely rare; production was only a few thousand a year and almost all of the early guns were used up during WWI.  This is a real find!
