This is certainly one of the most interesting Luger pistols that we have seen from the standpoint of service use. This is a definitive example of an early WW2 issued Luger Pistol. This Luger has been reworked at least twice, It started out as a 1917 DWM Lange P.08 Artillery Luger, was reworked by Simson in the Wiemar era to a 4 inch Army Luger as evidenced by the “circle S marking, then it went through at least one Nazi era Hza depot rework. This is exactly the type of pistol that would have been routed to the Waffen
during the prewar and early war years. While certainly not in mint condition you would not expect to see it in a well used example such as this and the value of the piece is due to the multiple reworkings and re-issues this pistol has seen. Indeed this pistol has been carried to war by several generations of Germans and it is a witness to some terrible history.
