In excellent original all matching condition, we have a genuine and original bcd 4 code phosphate finish Long Side Rail Sniper Rifle produced by Gustloff around August/September of 1944. This is a completely factory original genuine German WW2 Sniper rifle, 99 out of 100 are not but this one is a definitive example and has been well documented since at least 20 years ago in the October 1995 KCN Newsletter. This rifle has been in a very well known collection for many years and it is held to be one of the finest examples of a LSR to be held in any private collection.
The LSR is not an easy gun to duplicate as the reciever is made thicker to specifically mount a sniper scope, hence it is not possible to convert a normal 98k to this configuration. The scope base and mount are correctly numbered to the rifle which is also completely matching as well. The butt plate is checkered and the safety is a pre-key early milled down example which is correct for this rifle. The scope is the original bek coded Hensoldt made scope with the recoil ring that is correct for the LSR. the scope still has the sun shade as well and the optics are sharp. Having a real genuine 98K Sniper rifle is a goal that few collectors can obtain, as they are rare and the cost is substantial, but it is certainly the dream of every collector to have the chance to own one.
