Description

This is a very interesting artifact of Marine Corps History.  This is a early production 3rd Series Nagoya type 99 Arisaka Rifle it is all matching with an un-numbered dust cover.  The condition is combat decent but slightly salty.  Yeoman 2nd class F.J. Bilotta brought this back as his WW2 war trophy. His ship the Seaplane tender Mackinac https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Mackinac_(AVP-13) saw heavy action at Saipan and was under constant fire.    We occasionally will encounter a Japanese rifle with a name or battle inscribed, and in the past that has not been a helpful feature, but these days it adds to the desirability as you know that this rifled witnessed some of the heaviest most savage fighting of the war in places such as “Death Valley” and “Purple Heart Ridge”.  This is not only a desirable collectible WW2 rifle, but a tangible witness to the Service of this WW2 navy vet.
