Description

It’s been a while since we had anything that we could pin down to being at Iwo Jima, but we did just get this in.  These are the war trophy’s from a Marine named Gib Pracht, and he inscribed his information on the Japanese Army canteen. Gib has been confirmed to have been on his units Roster when they landed at Iwo and he served in an Artillery battery, probably pounding away at Mount Suribachi.   I know that he came from Kansas and died in Iowa, and that these things came from the family directly to one of our associates out west.

The Japanese Army Helmet is in wonderful condition and is extremely well marked.  There is probably enough information written insdie the helmet that an identification can be made as to the unit and or soldier, but we do not have the bandwidth to pursue a translation.  The canteen is the standard Japanese Army issue minus the carry harness.  The pistol is a 98% mint crisp condition, all matching including the Magazine Jan 1944 production Type 94 Nambu Pistol.  It is about as nice of an example of the dreaded and often ridiculed Type 94 that you will come across.

Iwo Jima is the most iconic and storied battle of the Pacific War and of Marine Corps Legend.  This setup speaks for itself.  I would imagine that more than a few of our clients would want the privilege of being the next caretaker of this wonderful grouping.
