In very good condition we have an all matching byf 41 coded,1941 Production Mauser Oberndorf made K98k Service Rifle. This rifle is factory original in all respects and is completely matching. It came out of the woodwork and was a WWII vet bring back. It has not been duffle cut and the bore is mint. The blueing is very bright on the receiver, but the stock has a few minor issues it has been slightly rubbed down and there are two very repairable holes on the bottom where American style sling swivels were attached. This is the difference between asking $2150 for this rifle and $4,000 for a mint one. You just do not find all matching early war rifles such as this.
Finding a matching 98k rifle is much harder than finding a nice all matching Luger, many were brought back after the war but most of those rifles were turned into more useful deer rifles, by modifying or converting into sporting rifles. Today, finding a clean example such as this is not an easy thing to do as most have been in collections for years and rarely surface.
