In 96% condition, we have a very scarce 1913 Sauer Pistol in 7.65mm (.32 auto) that is property marked to the German R.F.V. which translates as the Reichs Finance Administration. The pistol is all matching with an excellent bore and it has a matching numbered magazine and the holster that it was carried in for all of this time.
There has been a lot of misconceptions about the R.F.V. They are assumed to be tax collectors but this actually not the case at all. The R.F.V. were the Customs Police and more importantly they were the the Zollgrendienst or the Border Guard Police. They are the service that almost all of these marked weapons were issued to. During the Nazi era the Zollgrendienst were romanticized as guardians of the Fatherlands Frontier. This is a great piece from the Pre war Wiemar/Nazi era.
