This is truly one of the rarest Semi Auto Smith & Wesson Pistols known, the Steel Frame Model 39. Only 927 were made, and this example is new in the box. It is well documented from 2002, when George Wimer, the noted dealer sold it for $3995. A Smith Factory Letter & a 2 page hand written Letter from George accompany this pistol. This is a very rare variant with an aluminum back strap. This example is still with all the factory accessories in the original matching box. You could not find a finer example of this extremely rare and highly desirable handgun. There are rare guns and then there are rare and desirable guns and this is an example of the latter. Early Smith 9mm pistols are highly desirable these days and this will not hang around very long.
