This Belgian Army issued pistol was likely carried into battle with some Belgium Army NCO in May of 1940 when the Nazis invaded Belgium and it was likely surrendered or captured and then re-issued to German forces who used it until it was captured once again and became the war Trophy of a G.I. who liberated it and brought it back to the
These pistols were mostly sent to and reissued by the Waffen SS and there are many photos of their use in the hands of the SS in Russia during the savage fighting. To the soldiers of the SS, the High Power was the most sought after and cherished of their military pistols due to the high capacity 13 round magazine and its flawless function and accuracy. They were invaluable in close quarters combat. If you have ever shot one of these exceptional pistols you know they run like a Swiss watch. Absolutely My favorite WWII Pistol, I have all the variants in my collection, you just cant own enough of them.
Scotty’s Collector Insights…I personally collect pre-WWII High Powers, I would be glad to have this example in my own collection. It’s clean and it is very interesting. During this pistol’s service life during the Second World War it spent a few months in combat with the Belgian Army and the rest of the war in combat with the Nazis. the quality and usefulness of this pistol as a combat weapon is unmatched.
