This is not only a historical artifact per say, but also a well executed piece of Traditional Japanese Art of high aesthetic merit. We have a circa 1940 made Japanese Army Officers Shin Gunto Sword, This sword was hand made in the traditional fashion by the Master Smith Murayama Kaneshige (1909-1989) rated rikugen-jumei-tōshō. The blade is in mint condition with no nicks, and it also has the Family crest or Mon of the officer who carried it.
These wartime era swords are generally made to set military specifications with the standard showa era straight temper line and a set length, however this belies the high degree of technical merit and superiority of his blades which show a lot of activity in the temper line. Overall this is a premier example of Japanese WWII Military Sword, as nice as one could expect without paying into the tens of thousands. We guarantee this sword to be good for 6-8 beheadings without needing to be polished.
