In 95% very sharp condition,100% factory original and with a mint bore, we have a Colt model 1911 US Army that was shipped to the Quartermaster General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on March 23, 1914 as part of a shipment of 900 pistols. These were the pistols authorized by the Ordnance department to arm the Mass National Guard. During the First World war the guard formed the 26th Infantry Division known as the Yankee Division and were in combat for 210 days in France, so likely this pistol was over there in the thick of the fighting. This pistol is a wonderful example of an early 1914 production Colt 1911, it still has the very desirable short hammer and high polished small parts. Early 1914 production pistols in this top condition and originality are not easy to locate, and the Massachusetts provenance is a huge plus as well, making this a top tier collectible Colt 1911.
