Certainly the most historically significant French pistol we have had in the office, This pistol played an important roll in the May-July 1940, Battle for and Fall of France. In 97% condition we have an early 1939 production SACM Mle 1935A Pistol. This pistol is fully rigged out with 2 spare pre-war magazines and the original Model 1937 Holster and most importantly, that holster is named and unit marked to the 12e Cuirassiers. The gun is in excellent all matching condition with a mint bore. This early production A block pistol is from the first shipment of regular production pistols and was shipped in early 1938 to the Parc Regional du Material Bourges, the main French Army supply center.
The 12e Cuirassiers was an armored cavalry unit equipped with Panhard Amored Cars. During the 1940 Battle of France they were the reconnaissance unit of the 3rd Light Mechanized Division. They were heavily engaged and fought with heavy losses at the Battle of the Dyle, the Battle of the North, and the retreat of the Left Wing. This rig is believed to have been a WW2 GI bring back so likely it was captured by the Germans and re-issued by them. Unit documented Pre-Fall of France French Army issued Pistols just do not exist. This is a very important piece of French History and a very Important artifact of the Darkest Hours of WW2.
