Description

In 97% very sharp attractive condition, we have a Feb, 1915 production Springfield Armory M1911 U.S. Army Service Pistol.  This pistol is 100% factory original and is a textbook example of an early mid production gun.  All the parts are correctly marked with the small “s” marking, to include the hammer, takedown and barrel bushing.  The barrel is in excellent condition and is correctly marked with the “MD” on the front face of the hood. The grips are distinctive with the large diamonds and the magazine also of unusual construction with the folded metal bottom is correct.  Springfield Armory made a top quality pistol but the finish was not as attractive as the blue that Colt was doing, they have a duller more blue gray color.  These pistols have always been difficult to locate in original condition and this is a top example.
