Description

In excellent condition, all matching down to the screws, we have a very scarce and hard to find 1890 dated V.C. Schilling, Suhl manufactured  Imperial Bavarian Army Model Kar.88 Carbine.   The best part of this carbine is that it has the never seen original unit marked muzzle cover!  The rifle is double unit marked; it was orignal issued to a Bavarian mounted rifle unit then it went into the Bavarian foot Artillery. The story of this rifle it quite interesting it was in the hands of a noted Civil War collector who had it passed down to him from an Ancestor that was in the Canadian Army during WW1 and bought it back as a War Trophy.   It has the “S” bore marking to shoot the .323 caliber ammunition and the bore is mint as well.  This carbine has very sharp cartouches and there is still some of the bright fireblue remaining.  A scarce carbine that really stands out with the never seen muzzle cover.
