If you are an advanced collector of US Martial Shotguns, this is certainly one of the “Unicorns” that you will rarely ever see offered for sale. In mint like new condition, we have a very rare early 1970’s Vietnam Era US Air Force Experimental High Standard K-1200 Trench Shotgun. This Trench shotgun was developed for the Air Force by High Standard due to the ongoing need for combat shotguns in Vietnam and for Security at Air Force installations operating in forward areas. It is estimated that around 25-50 of these shotguns were produced for evaluation and testing. These test guns were sent to the Air Force, the Army and the Navy. This example seems to have been sent to Raritan Arsenal for evaluation as it bears their “RA” cartouche and a “box P” proof. With the rather abrupt end of the Vietnam Wart there was not any immediate need for this weapon and it was not adopted. It is likely that some of these weapons may have ended up with MP units but were later disposed of. This is a textbook example with the serial number of 21a, stock marking of 2B and the date code of “CL“. Certainly a very rare chance to obtain one of the most difficult to locate US Military Shotguns!
