This pistol comes with a letter as well that tells us a great story regarding its history; it was the war trophy of Sgt James Rigby of the 103rd infantry.  This unit landed in southern France and fought its way to Innsbruck Austria by the end of the war.  These days we so rarely get any kind of history or story regarding the circumstances of capture so this is a real find that adds depth and an avenue for further research.
