In 97% mint sharp condition we have a US World War II issued colt M 1911 A1 US Army service pistol.  This pistol is 100% correct and factory original and is a textbook example of late 1943 production at Colts.  This pistol was shipped to Springfield armory on December 3, 1943.

This pistol features, a rare combination of parts and markings only seen for about a month as 1943 crossed over into 1944. You will note the small GHD INSPECTION MARKING HOWEVER, THE SLIDE IS NOT NUMBERED. THIS IS ONE OF THE FIRST PISTOLS WHERE THE NUMBERING OF THE SLIDE WAS DISCONTINUED.  IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS MONTH’S PRODUCTION, THE GHD INSPECTION MARK BECAME LARGER AND WAS MOVED TO A LOCATION LOWER ON THE FRAME.  

The 1911 A1 pistol is one of the most iconic handguns of the war, and is highly sought after by not only by military gun collectors but by everybody with an interest in World War II.  THEY ARE EXTREMELY HOT AT THE MOMENT WITH STRONG DEMAND BEING SPURRED ON BY THE RECENT RELEASE OF MASTERS OF THE AIR.  THIS IS A PREMIER INVESTMENT.
