Likely this revolver was intended to arm the crew of a Liberty Ship or some other type of Merchant Marine vessel it appears to be new and not issued. While many of the revolvers were issued to guard war plants this seagoing Colt is a much more historically intriguing piece. Of course this is completely matching and factory original. Absolutely one of the Nicest Commandos we have had on offer.
Scotty’s Collector Insight…The Colt Commando is the WWII military issue variant of the Colt Official Police revolver. The Navy was gobbling up all the Victory models so these went to the Merchant Marine, the OSS and a myriad of other end users. Every US WWII collector should have an example of this important revolver.
