1939 was a year of preparation for the Nazi State for its anticipated invasion of Poland later in the year. Not only would the Army need to be ready, but a large cadre of the Nazi Police Apparatus would be needed to maintain order and control of the population and liquidation of the Polish intelligentsia. These Lugers were needed to arm the units responsible for maintaining terror and fighting partisans. The Luger is a full size 9mm Service Pistol and would have been used in combat and anti-partisan operations and ethnic cleansing. These Nazi Police Lugers were right at the tip of the spear of evil & terror.
