Description
This Model 1816 Harpers Ferry type 1 Flintlock Musket is said to have been recently discovered in a closet under the stairs at an old house near Harpers Ferry. This is an original piece in fairly decent condition and still a flintlock. This is a .69 caliber smoothbore musket. They last saw service in the Mexican War, and were very obsolete by the time of the Civil War, although they were probably used by home guard unit. Many were converted to cap and ball and these did see service in the war, but this example is in original flintlock condition. This is a very decent piece but is not near museum grade, never the less Harpers Ferry made guns do command a high premium due to their historic nature.
