At the outbreak of the First World War, Colt sold 70,000 Model 1911 pistols to Various Countries but only 5,000 went to Canada and they are rarely seen and hardly ever this nice. Most were probably lost in the fighting in France. This pistol is a great example of a very desirable WWI Canadian Military Colt. Canada played a major role in the fighting in France right from the beginning of the war and they along with the Australians were the primary source of manpower in the years 1917-18 for the Commonwealth Forces. This is an exceptionally attractive piece and is a great example of the most desirable handgun one could use during the war. This is a top shelf WWI military Colt.
