In 97+% original MINT sharp condition, we have a very rare (only 3,115 so marked) US PROPERTY Marked Colt 1908 Pocket Hammerless Pistol in .380 caliber. This pistol is one of an estimated fewer than 1,000 that were shipped to the United States Bureau of Naval Intelligence for use by agents of that Service during WWII. This pistol is US property marked and ordnance wheel stamped and is 100% correct and original. It bears the “M”: in front of the serial number and on the bottom of the mag indicating that it went back to Colts for modifications to correct design defects which effected the operation of the pistol sometime in 1945.
These pistols were primarily issued to personal of the Bureau of Naval Intelligence and to General Officers of the US Army, but some were sent to the OSS as well. As there were only ever approximately 3,000 of these they are much rare than the US Property marked 1903 Colts. We buy every one we can get our hands on. This comes with a Colt factory letter indicating shipment to the Navy in Norfolk, VA in early November, 1944. I cannot think of a better investment from a desirability and collecting standpoint.
