Description

In very good combat carried in 2 world wars been there done that condition, we have an Impossible to find, matching 1916 Enfield  No1 MkIII∗ Short Model Lee Enfield Rifle.  This is a so called “Peddled Scheme” Rifle with the receiver being made by the firm Standard Small Arms and shipped to Enfield for assembly.  The bore is decent and the stock cartouches are visible. The rifle is FTR marked on the stock indicating that it has been through a Factory Thorough Repair as nearly all of these rifles have been reworked multiple times over their years of service.

The SMLE is certainly Legendary;  it was the most highly regarded and effective service rifle of the Great War with a butter smooth action, 10 shot magazine and short handy length.  It was in service during WW2 and it is considered to be the classic British Battle Rifle of the early war era at places such as Dunkirk and the deserts of North Africa and even Burma.  Finding an example of this rifle these days in any decent condition is a pretty big deal, they are all in collections or long lost and are rarely ever seen.
