IN 96% ORIGINAL SHARP CONDITION, WE HAVE A REALLY NICE EXAMPLE OF A WWI ISSUED S&W M1917 SERVICE REVOLVER IN 45 ACP, RIGGED OUT FOR WWII USE WITH A SCARCE WWII SEARS HOLSTER AND 1942 PISTOL BELT AND WWI AMMO POUCH. THE GUN IS ALL MATCHING WITH A NICE BORE AND HAS VERY ATTRACTIVE GRIPS. I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THESE WERE BETTER HANDLING THAN THE COLTS. THIS IS LIKE HAVING AN ALMOST NEW 104-YEAR-OLD GUN! WE SEE MANY MORE COLTS THAN THE SMITHS SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ONE OF THESE THIS IS A TOP EXAMPLE.
THE M1917 REVOLVERS WERE HEAVILY USED IN ACTIVE SERVICE IN WWI AND RIGHT THROUGH TO THE END OF WWII. DURING WWII, THEY WERE OFTEN ISSUED TO MP’S AND THE ARTILLERY IN ORDER TO SPARE THE M1911’S FOR FRONT LINE COMBAT USE WITH THE INFANTRY AND ARMOR.
