Description

IN 87%  COMBAT SALTY CONDITION  WE HAVE A JAPANESE TYPE 26 REVOLVER AND HOLSTER.  THIS WAS A US ARMY AIR CORPS  WAR TROPHY  BRING BACK BY MAJOR BERNARD GERIS OF THE 15TH FIGHTER GROUP, FROM WHAT WE READ ON THE VERY EARLY CAPTURE TAG.

THESE REVOLVERS WERE VERY RUGGED AND TYPICAL OF THE SERVICE REVOLVERS OF THE LATE 1800’S.  THEY WERE THE STANDARD JAPANESE SIDE ARM OF THE RUSSO-JAPANESE WAR AND WERE STILL WIDELY IN SERVICE THROUGHOUT THE SECOND WORLD WAR.  MANY WERE BROUGHT BACK AS WAR TROPHIES SUCH AS THIS FINE EXAMPLE.
