sold – FANTASTIC JAPANESE ARMY TYPE 19 COMPANY GRADE KYU-GUNTO SWORD WITH DOCUMENTED ANCIENT BLADE FROM 1504, STUNNING HIGH END SWORD!

Here we have a stunning high end deluxe example of a Japanese Type 19 Company Grade Kyu-Gunto Sword with a papered 500 plus year old blade in fantastic high polish with deluxe mounts including a family Mon.  The 24 inch blade is attributed to the smith Dewa Gassan Chikanori known as Chikanori and the blade is dated to 1504, from the Eisho period.  You may notice the graceful curve and the very pronounced tip.   Finding a blade of this great antiquity in such fine condition in military mounting is a notable find.  This pattern of Sword was in introduced in the late 1880’s and it was the officers combat  sword right up through WWI and they were still in use throughout WW2.  This is a real work of art and wont last for long.
