Description

In 94% slight cosmoline box rash condition, we have a US WWII issued Colt Commando Revolver with the standard 4 inch barrel in .38 Special, still in the box with the manual.  According to the Colt Letter this pistol was shipped to the US Maritime Commission Warehouse in McComb, Mississippi on July 21, 1944.  The Colt letter is included.

Likely this revolver was intended to arm the crew of a Liberty Ship or some other type of Merchant Marine vessel it appears to be new and not issued.  While many of the revolvers were issued to guard war plants this seagoing Colt is a much more historically intriguing piece.  Of course this is completely matching and factory original.  sometimes when cosmoline dries it can cause slight staining or pitting and there is some of that on this piece, otherwise we would be asking at least 2k for it.
