In 98% mint sharp condition, we have an exceptionally fine example of a January, 1944 production Colt 1911a1 US Army Service Pistol. This pistol is 100% factory original with a mint bore. It shows just some slight carry use. In 1944 Colt produced more 1911a1 pistols than any other year, totaling over 162,000. Still with that being said to find one that survived the war in this little more than slightly handled condition is a real find.
You cannot find a more desirable pistol to park money into than a US WWII 1911a1 Pistol. With Masters of the Air being such a huge hit, everyone wants a .45! This is exactly what would have been carried in combat over Europe in the 6 month prior to D-DAY.
Scotty’s Collector Insights….finding a completely original WWII Colt in such pristine condition is a real find; nearly everything you see out there in the collector market is pretty trashed. This is the iconic American sidearm of the 20th century and if you are a serious student of the war and our military heritage it’s an important artifact to treasure and keep and a very solid investment.
