In 97% very sharp condition, we have an extremely rare, relentlessly sought after US. Property Marked, Colt model 1903 Pocket Hammerless .32 auto. This example is the most desirable variant of that pistol, one of the blued finish, WB cartouched (Waldemar Broberg) very early 1942 production pistols. According to the Colt Letter, this pistol was shipped just about a month after Pear Harbor, on February 8, 1942 to the Springfield Armory.
While many of these early pistols ended up with the SOE in England, this one did not and was likely issued to G-2 Military intelligence or possibly even the OSS. What we know for certain is that a very early production pistol like this almost certainly went out of Springfield Armory as soon as it arrived and certainly saw clandestine use during the war. I can think of no pistol more fiendishly chased after and collected than these WWII Pocket Colts.
