Description

In 98% mint crisp condition, we have a very scarce, very early 1956 first year production Second Generation Colt Single Action Army.  This is in a very rare configuration, .38 special with a 7 1/2 inch barrel.  Only 2,881 Second Generations were ever made in this configuration, making it a very desirable investment grade Colt.  The gun is in exceptionally nice condition with the case much nicer than you usually see on these guns after 70 years.  The bore is mint and the gun is as tight as a tick.

During the 1950’s Television really came into its own as it began to enter almost every American home.  One of the main draws was the rebirth of the B grade Movie Western in a TV format.  Americans have and will always be in love with stories about Cowboys and the Old Western Frontier.  Suddenly everybody wanted a Six-Shooter, so Colt pulled the tooling out of Storage where it had sitting since the outbreak of WWII and resumed production.  These early production Second Generation Revolvers were just as nice as the old pre-war Colts and they have seen a huge upswing in Collector Interest and the 1956 1st year production guns in particular.  These pistols not only harken back to the old west, they also harken back to the days of the TV cowboys as well.
