In 97% condition, not rebuilt and still with the factory original finish, we have a British Royal Navy Issued 1913 Webley & Scott Self Loading .455 Mark I Pistol, with 2 magazines worth of the original impossible to find .455 Auto Ammunition. This is an early production example, and it is also rack numbered 28 on the top of the slide. The pistol is all matching with an excellent bore. Most of these pistols were refinished in a dull blue after the war, but this one is still in the original commercial blue finish.
The .455 Webley Auto Pistols were issued to the Royal Navy Flying Corps who among other operations flew seaplanes in the North Sea. If you crash landed and had to escape you needed a big pistol to get you out of a jam. With that rack number this pistol certainly saw service during the war.
