In 98% mint crisp condition, we have a top example of an early 1943 Mauser production byf 43 coded P.38 Pistol in the early “d” production block. This P.38 has an excellent bore and is 100% factory original and all matching. These earliest Mauser produced pistols have a distinct finish that is referred to by collectors as “dusty Blue” This is a very dull blue gray finish over a grainy metal surface. This was an experimental finish that was discontinued very early in 1943 and it is present on all of the byf 42 pistols and the first few letter blocks into the byf 43 coded pistols. This rare finish is extremely desirable to collectors.
This pistol is from the “d” block which was produced around April of 1943. The pistol comes with a mint condition bdr 43 coded (Ricard Ehrhardt, Poessen) made Black leather Hard shell holster and the proper Mauser proofed spare mag. This is a top example of a collector grade early Mauser produced P.38 with the very highly sought after dusty blue finish and fully rigged out.
