I think that this is only the second or third documented female bring back from WW2, this was brought back by US Army Nurse 2nd Lieutenant Florence Roteringn of the 168th Evacuation Hospital. This hospital was sent to the Philippines and participated in the invasion of Palawan. In January of 1945 while the war was still raging, she sent back this May, 1944 Type 14 Nambu Pistol and Holster and a set of Japanese field glasses as memorialized in the Bring Back document. These items are still with the capture papers. One wonders why she sent these things back home? was it for a little brother or someone else or did she just go out and shoot a Japanese Officer and wanted her own trophy? The pistol, a May, 1944 production 2nd Series Nagoya Arsenal Made Type 14 Nambu is all matching and in 98% mint crisp condition. It comes with the holster and shoulder strap and a nice set of field glasses. This is the sort of rig carried by an NCO or company grade officer. Absolutely one of the neatest bring back setups we have had from the Pacific Theater…..and a wonderful item to research.
